Final Fantasy VI 3. Chrono Trigger 2. Final Fantasy VII 1. Final Fantasy IV Honorable mentions go out to Lagoon, the Seiken Densetsu series, Breath of Fire I and II, Xenosaga, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Crisis Core gets a nod as well for its beautifully crafted ending. Looking forward to Final Fantasy IV DS, Chrono Trigger DS, and the remakes of Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI for the DS. (Three cheers for the DS!)
I guess Phantasy Star, Grandia 3, FF 12, 7, 8, Tactics, X, 4, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and Star Ocean are on the top of the list for me.

It is interesting that I come to find this group. For I just devised a 10 part - 100 point ranking system for RPGs. I ranked all the RPGs I have ever played, and well, I was surprised that I liked every single one above 80%. Maybe I need to revise my system. If I could have a top ten, I'd put it in this order. 1. Star Ocean: The Second Story 2. Final Fantasy X 3. Xenogears 4. Chrono Trigger 5. Final Fantasy VII 6. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne 7. Final Fantasy IX 8. Suikoden 2 9. Star Ocean: First Departure 10. Final Fantasy VI And that needs a little shuffling still.
