Bale was downright unintelligible by the end of the film. He's harping on the power of good as he growls like a Rottweiler with Down's Syndrome. As Bruce Wayne, he's just dandy, but he's not the finest Batman we'll ever have.

That said, film was seriously good. Definitely the best of the year so far, but I don't know if it'll be one of my faves. I just don't dig superheroes all that much (ironic, no?). Nevertheless, every other aspect of the film was handled superbly. Heath "not Matt Damon" Ledger finally made me a fan at the absolute worst time thanks to the creepiest character with make-up I've ever seen.

A great crime flick worth seeing twice, I say, and a great review by ol' Steve, too.

I saw it again last night, and decided that Bale's voice only gets really bad in a few scenes, the rest of the time it's tolerable. But still...he pushed it way too far in some parts. Especially in the second half of the movie.
