did it have a cool final boss or anything? i haven't touched the game in quite a bit

The final boss is the Dark Presence in tornado form, manifesting itself in Barbara Jagger, that old woman from the start of the game that gave you the keys to the cabin on Cauldron Lake. I'm not exactly sure what happened in the end, but Alan might have written himself out of exstence, just like Thomas Zane. The ending shows the Dark Presence still in Rose and Agent Nightingale, and the credits say "Alan Wake's journey through the night will continue".

Overall, I'd actually pick up this game and replay the DLC, unlike other games I really enjoyed (Assassin's Creed II)

is it me, or is it sometimes hard to read the yellow luminescent writings with your flashlight?...

It can be. I like how they start off as solid yellow arrows, and then morph into broken ones.

well, i just beat it...final boss was nothing but dodging, but i think they were giving it a cinematic -ish experience...
can't wait 'till the signal and the writer DLC
kinda wished they'd let you keep the flashlight upgrades...at least

Are you going to try to get all the collectibles? Once I beat Lost Planet 2 and PoP: TFS, I'm going to go back to Alan Wake and beat it on Nightmare mode.

possibly...i dunno, i don't really feel like going back
i enjoyed the game as is but i still got a few other games to finish...

i only managed to collect around 50-55 thermos, not sure about the manuscripts and everything else
