    My PS4 is fucked.

Over three years old and the disc drive shit itself. No longer accepts discs. Digital games are fine.

I just got Shadow of the Colossus on disc instead of digitally.

Tried every homebrew fix I could find, nothing works.

Either pay for it to get fixed or shell out for a Pro. Thankfully it's tax time and we should be getting them soon. Think I'm just going to upgrade.

Three years seems pretty quick. I was worried mine quit the other day. I was only getting a pulsing white light on the power button. The build quality just isn’t what it used to be.

I fucking hate the automatic disc drives. From the tray on the PS2 and Xbox and 360, the auto drives of PS3 and PS4. Fuck 'em. Give me a lidded console.

Not a fan either, but I'm 100% digital now aside from Switch and those tiny storage sizes they have and the crazy price to upgrade to not much better.

Both of my PS4's are working fine, though. I had some serious doubts a couple of months ago on my Pro, but it turns out it was just my TV that's taking a shit.

The build quality of the PS3 super slim is bad too even if its not an auto drive.

*knock on wood* Ive been pretty lucky with all my hardware here this gen with exception of the kids breaking the Wii U screen(but less hardware fault than it was my fault for them using it without supervision), and my Monster Hunter New 3DS XL 3D slider breaking(not really broken, but feels like the button slipped out of track. VERY HARD to move up or down so it stays off).

Got my Pro, tore through Shadow of the Colossus. Still a great fucking game.

Now, I have to figure out what the hell I'm going to do with a PS4 that still technically works.

Keep it for co-op? Do the ol' double-dip thing with making your old PS4 still your Master account (if you didn't already change it), get all your digital buys on there and download on your new PS4 you play on, and let your wife or whoever also plays use the old PS4 on a different ID so you can play co-op online with only buying one copy of the game.

I'm pretty sure that still works.

Reaonable fix is replace optical drive. $30-50 was last average I thought I saw. Then its a dozen screws to freedom, couple ribbon cables in and out and back together to test.
