    GIANT ROBOTS!

These real-life anime mechas are about to do battle for your amusement - CNET

I've been following this story off and on for about a year now. Found this a bit ago and surprised at how far along they've both come.

Even more surprised that it sounds like it'll be more than one fight, and maybe even involve other teams/mechs? Early announcements I believe were just for USA and Japan to have a single epic fight.

Still, if I was ever in Japan's bot, that thing would never stop firing. Ever.

Until the U.S. bot shows up and destroys it. We've beat Japan before and we'll do it again.

I mean, just the sheer joy of being in a giant killbot (even if it's not technically designed to murder everything with the current weaponry) would make me just smile all the time. Hell, I'd probably get murdered with a smile on my face and keep the mech firing until it runs out of ammo in random directions because I can't control it anymore.

Either way, the fight itself should be interesting. There's been some pretty awesome new types of robot fighting these last few years aside from just things like Battlebots.

So are they going to fight in the new battlebots show?

Ha, I highly doubt it. Pretty sure these giant robots wouldn't even fit in the tiny arena.

Oh my god. I feel like they're going to move incredibly slowly and it's going to be hilariously awful.

Awful or spectacular, it's going to be interesting to see the technology at the very least. I'm going to love seeing the engineering and how it all works out.
